Li Lab of Seismology
We use seismic waves to image Earth's interior and investigate tectonic processes, earthquakes, and changes in the subsurface. Our work combines seismic tomography, joint inversion, ambient noise interferometry, and machine learning.
Research areas
Earth structure & tectonics
Imaging the crust and mantle to understand continental deformation, plate interactions, and magmatism.
Ambient noise & temporal changes
Using seismic interferometry to study attenuation, stress sensitivity, and subsurface changes.
Earthquakes & fault systems
Investigating how fault geometry and deep structure influence earthquakes and aftershocks.
Inversion & machine learning
Combining receiver functions, surface waves, gravity, and learning-based methods for geophysical imaging.
